This year, from July 23rd to 29th, the 18th Annual Meeting of the International Conference on Genomics (ICG-18) Youth Symposium & BGI International Summer Workshop will take place in Shenzhen over a seven-day period. Focusing on the theme "AI for Life Sciences Industry", this event presents an outstanding opportunity for global young students and scholars in life sciences, artificial intelligence and related interdisciplinary fields to engage in academic exchanges and expand their horizons. 1. ACTIVITIES

Lectures & Workshops by Eminent Scientists and Technology Innovators

Established in 2006, the International Conference on Genomics (ICG) has earned a reputation as a leading conference, showcasing cutting-edge 'omics' technologies and facilitating the exchange of ideas. As a subsidiary symposium of ICG, ICG Youth strives to bring together young students and scholars from across the globe, fostering academic discussions and sharing innovative technologies, as well as the latest advancements in the field of omics.

BGI collaborates with laboratories in prestigious institutions such as University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, University of Copenhagen, Karolinska Institutet, Heidelberg University, Jagiellonian University, Chulalongkorn University, and University of Indonesia for postgraduate and postdoctoral training. Candidates may meet with potential advisors and co-advisors, as well as explore possibilities for further studies at these universities and further careers at BGI Group.

2. FEES

5,000 CNY per person for all-inclusive package (23rd July - 29th July), including -registration for the practical courses, workshops and symposium -hotel pre-booked for 6 nights (Hampton by Hilton Shenzhen Dameisha https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/szxyahx-hampton-shenzhen-dameisha/) -meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) -local transportation -primary activities and insurances 2,700 CNY per person for flexible package (23rd July - 28th July) , including -registration for the practical courses, workshops and symposium -meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) -local transportation -primary activities and insurances -hotel pre-booking for flexible number of nights (Hampton by Hilton Shenzhen Dameisha https://www.hilton.com/en/hotels/szxyahx-hampton-shenzhen-dameisha/) or complementary dorm stay with four-person occupancy available upon request -“miracle city” and culture village tour available on 28th upon an extra payment of 500 CNY *The above fees do not cover transportation between your place of departure and Shenzhen. *The nearest airports are Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport and Hong Kong International Airport. Shuttles will be arranged at fixed time points and locations after all attendees are confirmed. *BGI College International Diversity Fellowships of up to 5,000 CNY each available for selected candidates that are considered underrepresented within the symposium community. *Travel awards of up to 8,000 CNY each available for speakers of ICG-18 Youth. *Presentation awards of up to 3,000 CNY each available for selected oral talks and posters of ICG-18 Youth. *Hotel stay is defaulted to be twin room. For those who need an upgrade to a private room, please indicate your preference during application process. Extra charge is applied. *Candidates are not required to make payment until receiving an offer. Payment method will be notified in the offer letter through email.

3. Application Requirements

✓ Undergraduates, master students, predoctoral, postdoctoral fellows, and young PIs. ✓ Major in life sciences, computer sciences, mathematics, physics, engineering, medicine or other related fields. ✓ Have research or laboratory experience. ✓ Have keen interest in genomics, bioinformatics or the development of relevant software and hardware. ✓ Proficient in English or Chinese.
